Huntsville Hornets Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-4 loss to New Caney on Tuesday. New Caney scored on a triple by Carlos Robles, a single by Brayden Mills, and a single by Raudelkis Rodriguez in the first inning.

Huntsville Hornets Varsity lost despite out-hitting New Caney eight to seven.

In the first inning, New Caney got their offense started when Robles tripled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

Huntsville Hornets Varsity notched three runs in the fourth inning. Patrick Dishman and Kyle Davis all drove in runs in the frame.

Jaren Warwick got the win for New Caney. He lasted three innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out two. Alex Santos and Tyler Jenkins entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Mason Monjares took the loss for Huntsville Hornets Varsity. He went two and a third innings, allowing six runs on four hits and striking out three.

Huntsville Hornets Varsity racked up eight hits on the day. Jesse Hoke and Cody Skains each collected multiple hits for Huntsville Hornets Varsity. Hoke went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Huntsville Hornets Varsity in hits.

Mills led New Caney with two hits in three at bats.
