Huntsville Hornets Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-3 loss to Porter on Tuesday. Porter scored on a groundout by Jace Russell in the first inning, a double by Bryan Westenberg in the second inning, a error in the second inning, a walk by Russell in the second inning, a stolen base by Zane Russell in the second inning, and a stolen base by Russell in the second inning.

Huntsville Hornets Varsity lost despite out-hitting Porter seven to six.

Porter pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Westenberg doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Porter, Russell drew a walk, scoring one run, Colby Christian drew a walk, scoring one run, and Porter scored on a stolen base during Logan Martin’s at bat. Then Martin singled , driving in one.

Russell toed the rubber for Porter. He surrendered three runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out three.

Garrett Moss was on the hill for Huntsville Hornets Varsity. He lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and eight runs while striking out one. Kyle Davis, Cade Shaw, and Caleb Robinson each contributed in relief for Huntsville Hornets Varsity.

Huntsville Hornets Varsity scattered seven hits in the game. Cody McLerran and Gatlin Stinger each collected multiple hits for Huntsville Hornets Varsity. Stinger and McLerran each collected two hits to lead Huntsville Hornets Varsity.

Porter racked up six hits on the day. Russell and Westenberg all had multiple hits for Porter. Porter stole 16 bases during the game as five players stole more than one. Westenberg led the way with five.
