The JV Lady Hornets fought a good fight in the game against Caney Creek but came up short in the end. Caney Creek came out strong in the first inning scoring 4 runs off of their three singles, a double, and three stolen bases. The Lady Hornets fired back with three runs crossing the plate. Jayda Linville started the inning off with a single to right field and stealing second. Kaitlin Ingram kept the pace going with her hard shot double to right field, followed by Maci Parish’s single to right. Madison Birdwell showed up to the plate earning a double with Madison Bigelow following with a single and a stolen base.
In the bottom of the second inning the Lady Hornets packed on two more runs with J. Linville starting off with a hit by pitch, stealing second and third, while K. Ingram reached first with a walk. M. Parish walked up to the plate with a purpose and hit single to right field, scoring J. Linville and advancing K. Ingram into scoring position, who later cross the plate on Madison Birdwell’s single to right field.
Caney Creek scored an additional three runs in the third inning and two in the fourth inning. The bottom of the fourth inning the Lady Hornets scored two runs but did not pull out the win in the end.
