The Lady Hornets knocked in seven runs in the fourth on its way to a 13-3 victory over Texas on Wednesday. Hope Grant, Kenley Strange, Kylie Grisham, JJ Duke, and Jensen Vienne all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Huntsville got things moving in the first inning, when Grisham hit a solo homer. The Lady Hornets notched seven runs in the fourth inning. Grant, Strange, Grisham, Duke, and Vienne each had RBIs in the frame.
Kylee Lehman was the winning pitcher for the Lady Hornets. The pitcher went five innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out six..
Huntsville launched five home runs on the day. Grisham went for the long ball in the first and third innings. Vienne went deep in the fourth inning. Brilee Wiggins had a homer in the fifth inning. Duke put one out in the fifth inning to finish the game.
The Lady Hornets collected 12 hits. Grisham and Duke all collected multiple hits for Lady Hornets. Grisham led the Lady Hornets with three hits in four at bats. Huntsville didn’t commit a single error in the field. Grisham had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
Huntsville looks to finish the series vs Texas on Friday at Whitehouse HS. Game 2 is scheduled to begin at 6:00PM with Huntsville as the visiting team on the first base side. The “if” game will follow at 8:00PM if needed, with home & visitor being decided by flip at the plate.
